May Green Honeysuckle Lonicera Nitida Maigrun

Bit of an anomaly as it looks more like box hedging than honeysuckle. An evergreen and fast-growing honeysuckle with small white flowers making an appearance in spring that grow into black/purple berries. If you have "No Particular Place To Go" you can always Chucky Berry but that sounds a little destructive to us. Either way, wildlife will be attracted to your garden because of the berries. The foliage is considered brighter than other variants (RHS type observation, not Mensa) and is quite tightly packed.

Ideal for small hedges and topiary as it only grows to around 1.5m high and wide if left alone. Even though it is a member of the honeysuckle family, it displays none of the conventional characteristics of them so it might have been adopted?

Considered to be pest and disease resistant, maybe because no examples can be found of a restraining order or cases of this plant with TB. Wet conditions will likely bring the usual powdery mildew but it won't be detrimental to the plants' health.

Growth rates are in the region of 20-30cm per year which will appear less if you prune and more if you view it very closely. If using as a hedge then go for 3-5 plants per metre or 4-6 plants per square metre for ground cover.

Planting May Green Honeysuckle Lonicera Nitida Maigrun
Plant in a sunny to shaded position in moist and well-draining soils. Although a hardy little plant it will not do well in cold exposed sites. Tolerates drought reasonably well and will benefit from feeding in early spring. Consider using mulch for keeping the weeds down, moisture levels up and cold protection during winter.

Pruning May Green Honeysuckle Lonicera Nitida Maigrun
Responds well to pruning which can be done throughout the year.

Delivery
Due to courier unpredictability, we advise having your trees delivered AT LEAST 3 days before you actually need them.

Returning Cell Grown Trees

For Phytosanitary reasons, cell grown trees cannot be returned to the nursery.

Delaying Planting Cell Grown Trees
If you cannot plant straight away, take the trees out of the packaging and stand upright next to each other in a sheltered location outside. November to March, no need to water unless they start to dry out and these would be ok for up to 6 weeks. During Spring and Summer, you can do this for up to 3 weeks.

Feeding Or Fertilizing
This is a task that can easily be over done. Any nitrogen based fertilizer will do such as 20:20:10 but the longer lasting ones which take 18/24 months are better as they are regulated by the weather and moisture therefore release slowly.
